A postel certificate is mandatory for devices that will be made, assembled, imported, used, and traded in Indonesia.
"We informed that (the postel certification) for iPhone 16 has been completed," she remarked on Friday.
Based on a statement from the postel certification website, the Ministry of Communication and Digital has issued postel certificates for five variants of mobile phones in the iPhone 16 series.
The postel certificates were issued for the iPhone 16 Pro Max (Number 108550/DJID/2025), iPhone 16 Pro (Number 108552/DJID/2025), iPhone 16 Plus (Number 108553/DJID/2025), iPhone 16 (Number 108574/DJID/2025), and iPhone 16e (Number 108575/DJID/2025).
Hafid stated that after the postel certification, the company still needs to fulfill other requirements to officially sell the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia.
Apple needs a postel certificate to secure an Import Product Registration Mark (TPP) from the Ministry of Industry.
In addition, the company must complete the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) registration for its products.
"From our office, everything has been completed, and the permits have been issued. I think the products can be distributed shortly," the minister remarked.
Apple's earlier attempts to market the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia faced obstacles due to non-compliance with the domestic component level (TKDN) requirements.
After lengthy negotiations between the Indonesian government and Apple, the US technology company agreed to meet the TKDN requirements in Indonesia by investing in a supplier company called ICT Luxhsare.
At a press conference on February 26, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said ICT Luxshare would invest in producing AirTag accessories at a factory under construction in Batam with an investment of US$150 million.
"With the completion of negotiations between the Ministry of Industry and Apple, outlined in the MoU document, the process of issuing TKDN certificates for Apple can begin," he stated.
