Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) member My Esti Wijayati has underlined the need for reassessing the distribution of the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) for Higher Education, especially in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.

"We understand very well that for certain regions, like the 3T areas, they are in great need of the KIP for Higher Education," she said here on Wednesday.

According to Wijayati, the reassessment must aim to ensure that the distribution or provision of education assistance by the government is on target.

Moreover, data/reports received by her side, the DPR's Commission X, indicate that only half of all applicants have been found eligible for the KIP for Higher Education.

Meanwhile, she requested that higher education institutions and the public be more patient regarding the KIP quota certainty.

Her side is still waiting for valid data for the KIP quota, in addition to the issuance of Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 regarding budget efficiency in several ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

"However, according to the latest information, the budget that was previously cut has mostly been restored, and hopefully, the KIP for Higher Education will return to what it was," she said.

Furthermore, Commission X will continue to document higher education institutions that are still receiving a very limited allocation of KIP for Higher Education. In the future, with accurate data, her side will readjust the KIP distribution.

"I am actually concerned that other regions may also have very low or even no KIP for Higher Education (quota) at all," she added.
