According to Patria, PDN 1 is still undergoing stress testing to check the resilience of its system.
Before the data center can be made operational, it needs to meet several standards, especially those related to system security, he said in Cikarang, West Java, on Thursday.
Learning from the cyberattack that disrupted the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2 in 2024, the government is seeking to ensure that PDN 1 meets the operational security standards set by the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN).
"We must meet those standards first before we operate it because we already have previous experience with PDNS. Thus, we do not want to repeat the previous mistakes," he said.
Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid has said that currently, the PDN 1 has been made operational for a number of reliability and security tests, including stress testing.
"It will fully operate when the security is safe for operations," she said.
She explained that the government is prioritizing caution in operating data centers to ensure public data security.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs and BSSN are currently assessing the security and reliability of PDN 1.
Besides gearing up for the operation of PDN 1, the ministry is also preparing the construction plan for PDN 2 and PDN 3.
The government is committed to completing the development of data centers to ensure effective, safe, and sustainable digital transformation in governance.
