Medan (ANTARA) - A Saudi Airlines plane made another emergency diversion at Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Saturday morning.

"Today, at 9:27 local time, one flight diverted and landed at Kualanamu International Airport," Acting Director of Operation and Service at PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi, Nugroho, noted in a written statement in Medan, Saturday.

The aircraft, operating as flight number SV5688 on the Jeddah-Surabaya route, was forced to make a technical landing as a precautionary measure to ensure flight safety.

Nugroho affirmed that all procedures for handling the aircraft and passengers were carried out properly in accordance with applicable procedures.

Earlier, another Saudi Airlines plane, flight number SV-5726 on the Jeddah-Jakarta route, made an emergency landing at Kualanamu Airport due to a bomb threat on Tuesday, June 17, at 10:44 local time.

The aircraft, bearing registration number HZ-AK32 and carrying 442 Hajj pilgrims from Depok City, West Java, was declared safe after the North Sumatra Police's explosives disposal team performed a search.

"However, the Kualanamu Airport community ensures that airport operations continue to run normally and smoothly," Nugroho stated.

He also noted that the airport's emergency operation center had been activated, involving members of the airport security committee.

This measure was taken to ensure that emergency handling procedures run optimally and based on regulations.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Airlines flight that made the emergency landing on Saturday was an Airbus A330 aircraft carrying 376 passengers bound for Juanda International Airport, East Java.

"Currently, all passengers and crew have undergone terminal checks and been cleared," Nugroho explained.

He also stated that Kualanamu International Airport continues to operate all flights as scheduled, with Nugroho emphasizing the airport's commitment to passenger safety and comfort.
