Jakarta (ANTARA) - Leaders of foreign countries are inclined to engage Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in discussions about the Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency during his visits, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated.

Hadi highlighted that this reflects the international community's genuine interest in Danantara, especially since the agency is typically not listed as an official agenda item in the president’s meetings abroad.

"As far as I am aware, leaders of countries visited by the president often take the initiative to bring up Danantara in discussions," he told the media in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 1).

The minister expressed confidence that Danantara's growing international appeal stems from the value of the assets it manages.

"Leaders of other countries see it (Danantara) as a massive investment. In a short time, Indonesia managed to establish a sovereign wealth fund with US$1,000 billion in assets under management," he emphasized.

Hadi, also serving as Prabowo's spokesperson, made the remarks after seeing the president off for an overseas trip at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base.

The Indonesian head of state is scheduled to spend around two weeks visiting several countries, including Saudi Arabia and Brazil, to strengthen cooperation in the economy, trade, and other strategic sectors.

On February 24 of this year, President Prabowo, alongside his predecessors, launched Danantara, which currently manages assets from approximately 800 state-owned enterprises and their subsidiaries, under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.

Through this sovereign wealth fund, Indonesia has attracted roughly US$7 billion in foreign investment through partnerships with Qatar, China, Australia, and Russia—the latter following Prabowo’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg.

Danantara is also expected to receive an additional US$10 billion in foreign investment from foreign banks this month, as revealed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya on Monday (June 30).
