The remaining two suspects have been identified as RS and ABR.
“RS and ABR were responsible for packing the lobster larvae, while the five aviation security officers served as X-ray operators to secure the shipment,” said Soekarno-Hatta Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Ronald Sipayung.
The investigation was launched based on intelligence regarding a suspicious shipment bound for Batam. The suspects were arrested in Jakarta in a joint operation with the Riau Islands Regional Police.
Authorities are now pursuing seven additional suspects. One of them, identified as B, is believed to have assisted security officers AW and VD, while two others, MEP and KJ, have been identified as the owners of the contraband.
Three more individuals, identified as T, A, and M, allegedly helped prepare and pack the shipment at the cargo terminal.
Another officer, TSK, was also arrested in connection with the case.
All the suspects are facing multiple charges under laws related to job creation, fisheries, and quarantine. “They face a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a Rp1.5 billion fine,” Sipayung added.
