“Perhaps the challenge lies in distributing the assistance in remote areas. I kindly ask governors and CEOs to assist so that eligible residents truly receive the benefits,” he said here on Friday during his visit to monitor the distribution of wage subsidy assistance at the Mataram Post Office.
The assistance is a government program for workers or laborers that aims to maintain people’s purchasing power amid economic challenges, such as inflation and economic slowdown.
The government allocated a budget of Rp10.72 trillion, or around US$648.8 million, for the wage subsidy assistance for June and July 2025. The assistance targeted 565 thousand teachers receiving honorariums and 17.3 million workers earning below Rp3.5 million.
The cash assistance of Rp300 thousand per month for two months was disbursed at one go, with recipients receiving Rp600 thousand each.
It was provided through banks under the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara). For workers without bank accounts, the aid was provided via state postal office Pos Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Manpower Minister Yassierli said that the distribution of the wage subsidy assistance through Himbara has nearly reached 100 percent. Disbursements for recipients who faced issues obtaining the funds through banks have been rerouted through Pos Indonesia.
“We hope the wage subsidy assistance can be used optimally and not be spent on online gambling or online games,” he added.
