"Today, we finalized the formulation of a joint declaration to celebrate 50 years of cooperation," the Indonesian president remarked during a post-meeting joint press conference at the Credential Chamber of the Merdeka Palace.
He emphasized that the declaration marks a new milestone in the two countries' efforts to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
Through the declaration, the governments of Indonesia and Peru reaffirmed their shared commitment to pursuing continuous collaboration in combating drug-related problems and illegal trade, with the aim of enhancing security and shaping a better future.
Prabowo also announced Peru's commitment to expand bilateral cooperation with Indonesia in several key areas, such as food, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense, under the principle of mutual benefit.
For her part, President Boluarte expressed confidence that the signing of the joint declaration opens a new chapter in the already harmonious relations between the two nations.
She also recalled Prabowo's official visit to Lima in November last year, calling it another milestone in Indonesia–Peru ties.
"Our reunion today in Jakarta demonstrates the positive trend our countries are currently enjoying," Boluarte stated.
The Peruvian president also spoke highly of Indonesia, noting its position as the world’s fourth-most populous country, one of the most dynamic economies in Asia, and the largest Muslim democracy in the world.
On trade, she pointed out that Indonesia is Peru's sixth-largest trade partner in Asia, while Peru ranks fourth among the main destinations of Indonesia's exports in South America and the Caribbean.
With that in mind, she expressed confidence that the two countries’ partnership will continue to grow and bring benefits to their people.
