Chief of BNPB Suharyanto, here on Wednesday, said the distribution of assistance, which is based on actual needs, can proceed following the declaration of an emergency response status by the Poso District Government.
The emergency response status is officially in effect for 24 days, from August 18 to August 31, 2025.
BNPB is assisting in the recovery of damaged homes through the provision of stimulus funds. In detail, Rp15 million for lightly damaged houses, Rp30 million for moderately damaged houses, and Rp60 million for severely damaged houses.
In addition, BNPB distributed logistical aid consisting of 100 staple food packages, 50 hygiene kits, 100 blankets, 100 mattresses, 50 folding beds, 200 ready-to-eat meal packages, three refugee tents, 25 family tents, food packages for toddlers/children, and essential supplies for vulnerable groups.
He emphasized that the emergency response and rehabilitation phases will be carried out simultaneously, as the condition of affected residents is a top priority.
Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported a damaging earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 that struck Poso District on Sunday (August 17) at 05:36 a.m. local time.
In its latest report, the magnitude was later revised to 5.8, with the epicenter located at coordinates of 1.27 degrees South Latitude and 120.75 degrees East Longitude, or precisely in the sea, 13 kilometers northwest of Poso City, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
A total of 433 people, or 184 households, were affected by the disaster.
