Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo said President Prabowo Subianto is giving full attention to police officers injured or killed in recent riots, and pledged firm legal action against those responsible.

“The president visited the families of fallen and injured officers with deep empathy,” Listyo said Monday in an official statement from Jakarta.

He added that the police force will honor officers who showed dedication and sacrifice during the unrest.

“We are committed to awarding the highest honors to those who gave their lives in the line of duty,” he said.

Listyo also stressed that the National Police (Polri) will act decisively against the perpetrators, in line with the president’s instructions.

Polri, he said, is working to restore security, ensure public order, and return economic and social activity to normal.

“Following the president’s directive, we will restore order. Perpetrators will be arrested and prosecuted under the law,” he said.

The police will also investigate the full network behind the riots, including those who instigated and financed the violence.

“Our investigation will follow the evidence—from those directly involved on the ground to intellectual actors and funders,” he said.

He confirmed that a number of suspects have already been detained and that the number is expected to grow as the investigation proceeds.

“Several individuals have been arrested. We will announce developments in due course,” he said.

The statement signals the government’s zero-tolerance stance on political violence as it moves to restore public trust and stabilize post-riot conditions across affected areas.
