Recently, a series of protests in Jakarta and surrounding areas turned chaotic, with unidentified individuals breaking into and looting public officials’ homes.

Public facilities were also damaged during the unrest, including bus stops, train stations, and toll gates. The nationwide protests claimed lives and left many injured.

On Monday, September 1, President Prabowo said that some victims were in critical condition, with several requiring kidney transplants due to organ damage from being trampled, and another in need of skull surgery.

He made the statement after visiting victims at the Polri Hospital in Kramat Jati, Jakarta.

The President stressed that people have the right to express their opinions and voice aspirations, as guaranteed by law.

However, he reminded that protests must be carried out peacefully and in accordance with regulations, including ending by 6:00 p.m.

Prabowo also called on authorities to apprehend those responsible for property damage and urged leaders of the House of Representatives to meet with protesters and hold a dialogue to hear their concerns.
