“Today, in just under eight hours, President Prabowo Subianto was in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, fulfilling a special invitation from President Xi Jinping,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in an official statement shared via the Cabinet Secretariat’s social media platforms in Jakarta.
Wijaya noted that President Prabowo had originally been invited to attend a series of events beginning August 31, but postponed his departure due to evolving domestic considerations.
According to Wijaya, the meetings with Presidents Xi and Putin were intended to follow up on and reinforce ongoing economic investment initiatives between Indonesia and the two global powers.
The high-level engagements took place on the sidelines of the 80th Anniversary Commemoration of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Victory, attended by 26 world leaders.
Indonesia received a special honor during the event, being seated in the front row alongside the host nation during a military parade that drew international attention.
“Indonesia received a special honor by being seated in the main row alongside the host,” Wijaya emphasized.
Following the tightly packed diplomatic schedule, President Prabowo departed Beijing for Jakarta later that same evening.
“In less than a day after leaving Indonesia, the President will be back in Jakarta tonight,” Wijaya confirmed.
