The Jakarta office of Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs called on Muslims to make the commemoration a moment to deepen their love for the Prophet and follow his example.
“Let us make the commemoration of the Prophet’s birthday the best momentum for us to love and emulate the morals of Prophet Muhammad even more,” Adib, head of Jakarta Religious Affairs Office, said in a statement Friday.
He said the Prophet’s values should be a guide for Muslims, highlighting his compassion, respect, willingness to help, and his efforts to promote unity while avoiding division and hostility.
The 12 Rabi al-Awwal 1447 commemoration was jointly organized by the ministry and broadcast online.
This year's celebration was held with a more inclusive approach, beginning with istighatsah (mass prayers), followed by national prayers, recitations and a collective dhikr remembrance.
President Prabowo Subianto attended the ceremony, accompanied by senior officials including People’s Consultative Assembly Speaker Ahmad Muzani, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Military Commander General Agus Subiyanto, State Intelligence Agency head M. Herindra, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar.
The 2025 celebration carried the theme, “Ecotheology: Prophet Muhammad as a Model for the Sustainability of the Earth and Country.”
Organizers said the theme links Islamic teachings with environmental protection and national resilience. It calls on Muslims to care for nature and safeguard the nation by practicing the Prophet’s values of compassion, justice and responsibility.
