Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait has affirmed that the Housing People's Business Credit (KUR) is a form of government support for micro and small entrepreneurs (MSEs).

"Housing KUR is a policy that favors MSEs, and is the first of its kind in Indonesia," Minister Sirait said during a Housing Credit Program Socialization event with the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Jakarta on Sunday.

Furthermore, the Minister, familiarly known as Ara, encouraged entrepreneurs to utilize the Housing KUR to improve their businesses, stimulate the national economy, and boost the emergence of new entrepreneurs in Indonesia.

However, he also urged young entrepreneurs to comply with regulations and carry out the mandates of the Housing KUR regulation professionally, so that it can have a direct impact on the national housing ecosystem and prevent detrimental practices such as corruption.

"I ask HIPMI to seriously curate its members, supporters, and networks. Curating means properly profiling. Because not all entrepreneurs are honest; some are honest, some pretend to be honest, and some are not," he said.

"If (entrepreneurs) are not honest, don't participate (in this program). But if they are honest, don't hesitate to engage. Because this is for the people, for (MSEs) to move up a class, to stimulate economic growth, and to create jobs for many people," he added.

The government has issued Regulation of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2025 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Housing Program Credit.

Ara outlined that the Housing KUR is divided into two beneficiaries: supply and demand.

The supply side includes those in the development, contractor, and building materials sectors.

The Housing Program Credit, on the supply side, is provided to recipients with loan amounts ranging from Rp500 million to Rp5 billion.

The loan can be disbursed in a lump sum, installments, or revolving loans, as agreed.

"Meanwhile, the demand side is for MSMEs, whose loans are used to support their businesses, such as purchasing a house, renting a warehouse, and so on," he said.
