Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has deployed troops in the evacuation of victims affected by the massive floods in Bali.

The Head of the Indonesian Army Information Service, Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana, told Antara that the deployed personnel are from the IX/Udayana Regional Military Command (Kodam IX/Udayana).

"Currently, more than 300 TNI AD personnel, along with the National Police (Polri), Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency), and other relevant agencies, have been deployed at various locations," Yudhayana said when confirmed on Friday.

He explained that army personnel have been dispatched to 147 flood-affected areas and 32 landslide-affected locations across Bali. Their duties include searching for people missing after being swept away by the floodwaters and clearing mud and debris from the affected environment.

In addition, the army has also established evacuation posts to accommodate displaced residents.

"Kodam IX/Udayana has also set up field kitchens and emergency posts to expedite logistics distribution and assist evacuees," Yudhayana explained.

According to TNI AD data, the floods have resulted in 14 fatalities. Several buildings, including homes and public facilities like temples and bridges, were also damaged.

In response, Yudhayana, speaking on behalf of the Indonesian Army, extended condolences to those affected by the disaster.

"The Indonesian Army expresses its deepest condolences to the victims. We also urge the entire community to remain calm, maintain solidarity, and work together with all personnel on the ground so that Bali can recover quickly and community activities can return to normal," he said.
