Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo affirmed that 1,765 tons of corn harvested in the third quarter, managed by the National Police (Polri), will be distributed to the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) warehouses.

"Today, we are sending 1,765 tons of corn to Bulog, including 614 tons from South Sumatra Province. Of that amount, 100 tons from Oku will be prioritized for Bulog," General Listyo said during the third-quarter harvest event in East Oku, South Sumatra, on Saturday.

This initiative, he said, is part of the National Police’s commitment to supporting the government's food security programs. He emphasized that this is not the first time Polri has contributed harvests from its cultivated lands.

From July to September 2025, Polri cultivated and harvested corn from 166,512 hectares of land across Indonesia, producing over 751,000 tons. This significantly contributes to the national corn stock, which has reached 2.8 million tons so far this year.

General Listyo noted that this effort reflects strong synergy between Polri and Bulog in strengthening national food reserves. He also highlighted the importance of ensuring farmers have market access while guaranteeing supply stability for consumers and industry.

"With support from ministries, strategic partners, local communities, and farmer groups (gapoktan), we can continue to strengthen cooperation and contribute to national food security," he concluded.
