Anung said the growing number of sporting events had brought significant benefits to the capital. He cited the Jakarta International Golf Championship, currently under way at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), featuring global players such as Bubba Watson and Anthony Kim.
He added that any events unable to be held in other regions could be moved to Jakarta, instructing Youth and Sports Office Head Andri Yansyah to coordinate relocations.
This year, Jakarta will stage the 17th National Student Sports Week (POPNAS), initially scheduled in Medan and Aceh.

In October 2025, the city will host the Jakarta Running Festival, expected to draw more than 27,000 participants across marathon, half-marathon, and other categories.
The city also continues to promote active lifestyles through its weekly Car Free Day program, held every Sunday on major roads.
Anung voiced optimism that with consistent, well-managed events, Indonesia could build stronger teams for international competitions such as the Asian Games, Asian Youth Games, Islamic Solidarity Games, and the SEA Games in Thailand.
He also urged closer coordination between Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari and Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir to strengthen national sports development.
The provincial government, he said, is committed to providing public spaces for sports activities whenever possible.
“We support Olympic Day 2025 and other events in Jakarta,” Anung said.
