Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has ordered authorities to prioritize medical treatment for victims of explosions at Public Senior High School (SMAN) 72 in North Jakarta on Friday.

“His first reaction was to prioritize the condition of the victims and ensure they receive care,” Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi said at Merdeka Palace.

He added that the president sees the incident as a warning for the public to remain vigilant at home and in schools.

Prasetyo stressed that community awareness is crucial to prevent potential threats. “If anything suspicious is noticed, people should report and stay alert in their homes and school environments,” he said.

Greater Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri reported that 54 people were injured in the blasts, some with minor to moderate wounds.

Several victims have already been discharged. Police secured the scene with lines and sterilized the area with bomb disposal teams, he added.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the provincial government will cover all medical expenses for the injured, regardless of the hospital.

“This is part of our responsibility. All treatment costs will be borne by the government,” he said.

Pramono confirmed that local authorities, including the Education and Health Departments and the North Jakarta mayor, have been instructed to address the aftermath and coordinate victim care.

The blasts at SMAN 72, located in Kelapa Gading Barat, have heightened concerns about school safety in the capital.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the explosions and maintain security at the site while ensuring victims receive full medical support.

Officials urge the public to remain alert and report suspicious activity to prevent similar incidents.
