Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Human Rights Ministry is formulating steps for human rights development in the National Human Rights (HAM) Development Planning Conference to be held from December 8-10.

Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai said here on Tuesday that this will be the first National HAM Conference in Indonesia, marking a historic milestone in human rights development as an intangible asset.

“Until now, there have been national development deliberations. Now, there is also the National Human Rights Conference, officially conducted by the government. This is one of the most important historical milestones,” he said.

Pigai explained that the National HAM Conference is part of the national strategic plan and a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s mandate, which places human rights as the first priority.

The conference aligns with the Prabowo-Gibran administration's first AstaCita mission, which is to strengthen the foundation of Pancasila ideology, democracy, and human rights.

The forum will formulate steps for national human rights development to realize strategic plans, mainstream human rights in national development, and achieve Indonesia’s goal of leading the world by 2045.

“Human rights are among the most valuable intangible assets in the world, residing in everyone’s mind. They will be formulated into technical and strategic steps, as well as technocratic policies in national development for the future,” he said.

Pigai noted that the conference is planned to be opened by Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy and attended by ministries/agencies and regional heads.

“Meetings have been held with the Head of Bappenas and his team, and he expressed his readiness. The event will feature ministries/agencies as resource persons in the context of national human rights development, including leaders from the police, the military, and the Home Ministry," he said.
