Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has thanked the Pakistani government for supporting Indonesia's health sector, including by sending doctors and experts.

At a joint press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, Prabowo said Indonesia currently needs a large number of health personnel.

He noted that Pakistan's assistance in sending doctors, professors, and experts would significantly benefit Indonesia's health services.

"We have a vast need for doctors and dentists, and I am starting a massive program of education in this field. So, your assistance will be very strategic and critical for us. We really appreciate that," Prabowo said on YouTube.

He also highlighted the importance of accelerating efforts to boost trade between the two countries.

Prabowo said he had instructed his ministers to speed up concrete cooperation in education, trade, agriculture, science, and technology.

"Be assured that we want to move as fast as possible in all these fields; field of education, field of trade, field of agriculture cooperation, and science, technology" he said.

Prabowo was received at Sharif’s official residence in Islamabad on Tuesday for a one-on-one meeting.

He was accompanied by several officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

The two leaders also witnessed the signing of MoUs and cooperation agreements in several sectors, including health and higher education.
