Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has directed his aides to take immediate action to stabilize prices and secure sufficient supplies of essential commodities ahead of the heightened demand during the upcoming New Year holidays.

The President issued the instruction during a limited cabinet meeting held at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor District, West Java, on Sunday, December 14, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

"The meeting specifically discussed preparations for the New Year holidays, covering issues related to food security and the prices of basic goods," Wijaya stated on the Cabinet Secretariat’s social media.

President Prabowo specifically ordered relevant ministries and agencies to maintain price stability to ensure smooth Christmas and New Year celebrations nationwide.

The meeting also touched upon broader national economic developments, including updates on customs and taxation services and their direct impact on goods distribution and public purchasing power.

To encourage mobility and stimulate the economy during the long holiday period, the government announced several measures, including lowering fees for toll roads, flights, trains, sea travel, and various public facilities.

Wijaya also highlighted the government’s concurrent distribution of the Direct Cash Aid (BLT) program, which runs from October to December.

This aid is part of the government’s economic stimulus package aimed at bolstering purchasing power in the final quarter of 2025. The BLT program is projected to benefit 30 million families deemed in need of direct financial intervention.

The Cabinet Secretary noted that the Hambalang meeting took place immediately after President Prabowo concluded an assessment tour of post-disaster conditions in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Wijaya emphasized that the meeting underscored the President's commitment to ensuring adequate preparations for the anticipated surge in public mobility and consumer activity as the year ends.

Among the ministers attending the discussion were Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, alongside ministers for Energy and Mineral Resources, Housing and Settlements, and Forestry.
