Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that Polri had deployed 10,999 personnel to support flood and landslide response measures in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"We deployed 10,999 personnel for Aceh Regional Police, North Sumatra Regional Police, and West Sumatra Regional Police," he stated while delivering reports to President Prabowo Subianto at a Cabinet meeting in Jakarta on Monday.

Listyo stated that the police have also deployed the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) teams for handling the deceased victims, trauma healing teams, and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) standby troops.

"The Brimob standby troops we are ready to send comprise 673 personnel for Aceh, 756 personnel for North Sumatra Regional Police, and an additional 892 personnel for West Sumatra Regional Police," he said.

Furthermore, regarding facilities and infrastructure, he explained that the police sent assistance in the form of vessels, helicopters, and aircraft.

For sea transport, the police sent one vessel to the Aceh Regional Police, one vessel to the West Sumatra Regional Police, and two vessels to the North Sumatra Regional Police.

"These will be used to transport logistics that we will distribute to the affected areas," he added.

As for air transport, the police sent three helicopters to Aceh, two planes and four helicopters to North Sumatra, and one helicopter to West Sumatra.

In addition, Polri also sent sniffer dogs to the three affected provinces and set up 91 disaster relief evacuation posts, along with dozens of logistics distribution posts and health posts.

"In the initial stages, amid urgent need for communication services, we distributed 85 Starlink devices," he added.

Regarding humanitarian aid, the police have sent various supplies, including 224 tons of rice, 44 generators, 239 pumps, 19,000 solar panels, and 120 body bags.

As for health services, the police chief stated that Polri has provided services to 24,439 disaster victims, including DVI examinations for 1,015 victims.
