According to a statement received in Jakarta, the aid consisted of staple commodities, electric saws, and tools designed to improve access to clean water for flood-affected residents.
General Prabowo also used his visit to the flood-stricken district to directly inspect debris-clearing efforts at Karangbaru 01 Public Elementary School, Syuhada Mosque, and the Aceh Tamiang Police Headquarters.
The Polri deployed a total of 200 police officers to help rehabilitate the three locations, underscoring the institution’s commitment to delivering optimal public service, even during disaster emergencies.
Before surveying the cleanup work, the Polri chief visited a refugee shelter on Kuala Simpang Street, which is currently accommodating 240 citizens that have been displaced by floods and landslides.
The police have been supporting the shelter by operating a field kitchen capable of preparing 450 meal portions per session, establishing a health post staffed by 31 medics, and installing water purifiers capable of producing 16,000 liters of clean water daily.
In addition, 12 police officers have been assigned to assist survivors in overcoming trauma following the disasters that also struck other cities and districts in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces.
Earlier, General Prabowo highlighted the importance of collective action among all elements of the nation to ensure effective disaster response in Sumatra's disaster-struck regions.
“In this dire situation, we cannot afford to work separately. It is crucial that all elements move swiftly in a coordinated and targeted manner,” he stated on December 1.
In line with this call, the Polri chief affirmed that his side will continue to exert maximum efforts to ensure swift, targeted assistance reaches all survivors.
