Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is accelerating the distribution of basic necessities for evacuees affected by floods and landslides in Aceh Province, including those in hard-to-reach areas.

The effort aims to ensure that assistance reaches affected residents as soon as it arrives at the main post.

BNPB’s Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said in Banda Aceh on Wednesday that aid deliveries continue daily via land and air routes.

He emphasized that meeting basic needs, particularly food and daily supplies, remains a priority.

According to Abdul Muhari, more than 448 tons of aid have been collected at Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Base since Friday, November 28. Of that amount, approximately 334 tons have been distributed to various evacuation sites.

BNPB is working to optimize the distribution of the remaining supplies so that all affected residents receive assistance promptly.

He stressed that no aid is left sitting at the post. Every shipment is processed and dispatched within a maximum of two days. Although the high volume of incoming assistance presents its own challenges, it does not hinder distribution.

The number of evacuees from the floods and landslides in Aceh has reached 831 people. Evacuation sites remain scattered due to the wide impact area.

Abdul Muhari encouraged residents to relocate to a centralized evacuation point to ensure more effective services and delivery of basic needs.

He added that a centralized evacuation site would improve coordination and speed up response efforts.

“We encourage evacuees who are spread across different locations to gather at a single integrated evacuation point so they can receive comprehensive services,” he said.
