Nusantara Capital City (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has pledged to strengthen controls against illegal activities, including unlicensed mining and trading of state-owned land and forests, in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan.

"The authority is committed to realizing IKN as a city that is orderly under the law, safe, and sustainable for future generations," OIKN Secretary Bimo Adi said on Wednesday.

Throughout 2025, a task force conducted public outreach and education, installed prohibition signs at vulnerable locations, and took enforcement action against various illegal activities across the IKN area.

Enforcement targeted illegal community activities, traffic violations, unlicensed mining, and land-related offenses, including the trading of state-owned land and forest areas.

"We have also conducted evaluations and prepared joint work plans with several stakeholders to strengthen control over illegal activities in 2026," Adi said.

He added that the evaluations were carried out to ensure IKN development proceeds in line with principles of good governance, sustainability, and legal justice.

In 2026, OIKN plans to implement strategic programs, including data collection and validation of area boundaries, patrols and enforcement, continuous public education, and capacity building for task force personnel.

"Comprehensive safeguarding of the IKN area from various illegal activities is very important," Adi said.
