“The task force has conducted the first phase of relocation on December 20, 2025, involving 227 families from a 6,330.78-hectare palm oil plantation,” said Attorney General ST Burhanuddin in a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Attorney General explained that the task force had collected data on residents and infrastructure within the national park: seven community settlements, which were divided into seven villages, with a population of 5,773 families, consisting of 22,183 people and 573 houses.
In addition, there are 12 educational facilities, including schools, 52 places of worship, and 12 health facilities.
"The number of families registered for the relocation program is 1,465," he said.
The government, including the task force, has also prepared 8,077 hectares of reclaimed land to relocate residents in the national park area.
To date, the first phase of relocation has involved 227 families.
Previously, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni stated that the relocation was the government's initial step in balancing environmental protection and social justice for the community.
The minister stated that the relocation of communities from the national park area was not an act of hostility, but rather provided legal certainty for the community's rights through peaceful means and dialogue.
As a form of long-term commitment to restore the Tesso Nilo ecosystem, the Forestry Ministry has allocated around 74 thousand tree seedlings for the entire area, consisting of 30,000 mahogany trees, 15,000 rain trees, 15,000 sengon trees, 9,000 jengkol trees, and 5,000 calliandra trees.
