Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has established 1,147 nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPG) nationwide to serve as kitchens supporting the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reported.

"Presently, we already have 1,147 SPPGs projected to serve 3,972,500 MBG recipients and absorb 56,750 people from the workforce," he remarked during a year-end police briefing at the Polri Headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Elaborating further, Prabowo noted that 331 police-run MBG kitchens are already operational, 135 remain in the preparatory stage, 245 are under construction, and 436 have recently begun development, which is expected to be completed by February next year.

The Polri chief added that his institution has set a target of establishing at least 1,500 SPPGs nationwide to expand the coverage of the MBG program, through which the government aims to reach 83 million people by March 2026 under President Prabowo Subianto's directive.

“Our efforts are aimed at bolstering national food security and meeting the nutritional needs of Indonesian children, especially those vulnerable with stunting,” the general said.

Beyond the MBG program, he emphasized that Polri has also contributed to the government’s efforts to improve interregional mobility and accessibility by repairing and constructing 101 bridges nationwide.

He further noted that 27 bridges have been completed, 16 are still under construction, and 58 remain in the planning stage.

Prabowo expressed hope that the bridge projects would ease public mobility, support economic activities, and strengthen connectivity between regions, particularly those lacking adequate infrastructure.

“I would like to express my appreciation to all personnel involved in efforts to assist the public, so that Indonesian children no longer need to cross rivers to pursue their education,” he said.
