South Tapanuli, N Sumatra (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for Aceh Tamiang District, Aceh Province, to directly inspect the construction of housing for disaster survivors being carried out by state-owned enterprises under the Danantara Investment Management Agency.

On the second day of his visit to disaster-affected areas in Sumatra, President Prabowo greeted residents who gathered at the helipad of a state-run plantation company in South Tapanuli District, North Sumatra, upon his arrival at around 9 a.m. local time.

After being seen off by North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution and South Tapanuli District Head Irawan Pasaribu, the president left the helipad at 9:20 a.m. aboard an Air Force Caracal helicopter bound for Silangit Airport in North Tapanuli District.

From there, the head of state was scheduled to continue to Soewondo Air Force Base in Medan City, North Sumatra, before flying on to Aceh Tamiang to review the construction of temporary housing units for residents displaced by recent floods and landslides.

Accompanying the president on the trip were Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, among others.

Prabowo’s agenda in Aceh Tamiang was first disclosed by Wijaya on Wednesday, December 31.

“The president is scheduled to inspect the construction of 500 to 600 housing units being built by Danantara under his directive,” Wijaya told the media.

Earlier, on December 28, the cabinet secretary said the government had tasked Danantara with coordinating state-owned enterprises to construct a total of 15,000 temporary housing units for disaster survivors in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra within a three-month period.

He added that around 500 housing units are targeted for completion this week.
