According to a written statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received here on Monday, the logo combines the symbol of the Nusantara compass with a guiding light, or “jyoti,” representing direction, hope, and strategic orientation.
Eight star-shaped elements symbolize the eight D-8 member countries united in a single configuration, reflecting a shared determination to strengthen economic integration, connectivity, and collective prosperity.
According to the statement, the logo is expected to increase the visibility of D-8 at the national and international levels, while also strengthening public understanding of Indonesia’s strategic role within the organization.
The logo launch is also part of preparations toward the 12th D-8 Summit, scheduled to be held here in April 2026.
The ministry emphasized that Indonesia’s diplomacy is built on principles of resilience and the ability to respond to global pressures, including through inclusive economic cooperation in international forums such as D-8.
This aligns with the annual press statement delivered earlier this month by Foreign Minister Sugiono, which underscored the importance of diplomacy that is responsive to an increasingly complex and unpredictable global order.
Indonesia is determined to position D-8 as a platform to advance shared interests in addressing interconnected global challenges, in line with national efforts to expand strategic space among Global South countries, the ministry said.
Indonesia has also set the theme of its D-8 chairmanship as “Navigating Global Shifts: Strengthening Equality, Solidarity and Cooperation for Shared Prosperity,” reflecting that commitment.
Indonesia will promote results-oriented cooperation, with a focus on strengthening economic interactions, creating shared added value, and increasing engagement with the business community.
