Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono said this JCBC is a momentum to assess ongoing bilateral cooperation and project new opportunities for the future.
"Indonesia and Malaysia have agreed to continue strengthening coordination to enhance broader cooperation in various sectors," he remarked in a joint press statement with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan following the JCBC at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On this occasion, Sugiono said that efforts to improve economic relations and citizen protection were among the topics discussed by the two countries' delegations.
The Indonesian and Malaysian delegations also discussed strategic positions for expanding international relations, particularly in terms of regional stability and efforts to achieve world peace, the minister added.
According to him, Indonesia and Malaysia can further harness their shared potential for the benefit of both nations, given their common ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.
On the same occasion, Minister Hasan welcomed the return of the JCBC, given that the last JCBC dialogue took place in 2018.
He assessed that the Indonesia-Malaysia JCBC, in addition to affirming the commitment to cooperation between the two countries, also served as an effort to resolve remaining bilateral issues.
"Relations between neighboring countries occasionally encounter unresolved issues, and we are committed to addressing them," he said.
He then addressed that discussions with Indonesian partners under the JCBC framework can support efforts to harmonize the two countries' shared vision and strengthen bilateral cooperation as envisioned by their leaders.
The Indonesia-Malaysia JCBC was held following bilateral consultations between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in July 2025.
