Three days of national mourning will begin tomorrow (Friday) in memory of the victims of recent events,
Tunis (ANTARA News/AFP) - Tunisia`s caretaker government on Thursday declared three days of mourning after bloody unrest toppled disgraced president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and said the state would seize the assets of the ex-ruling party.

Government spokesman Taieb Baccouche made the announcement at the end of the first cabinet meeting of the post-Ben Ali era.

"Three days of national mourning will begin tomorrow (Friday) in memory of the victims of recent events," he said, reading out an official statement.

The government says 78 people were killed when security forces tried to quell protests that started mid-December, but the United Nations says about 100 died. (M014/K004)
