London (ANTARA News) - Some 253 Indonesians had been evacuated from Libya to temporary shelters in Tunisia, and earlier the Indonesian embassy in Tunis has also evacuated six Indonesians working at Malaysian construction companies in Tripoli.

The 253 Indonesians had been welcomed by Indonesian ambassador Muhammad Ibnu Said and diplomatic security director of the Indonesian foreign ministry Samsu Rizal, a press release received by ANTARA London Monday.

The 253 Indonesians arrived at Carthage international airport in Tunis from Tripoli, Libya, on Saturday at 11.45 pm local time, using Airbus A-300 chartered by the Indonesian embassy in Tunis from Tunisair.

The Indonesians were taken to Wisma Duta for medical check up, and given food, drinks, clothes, counseling and other services.

The 253 Indonesians consisted of 201 PT WIKA employees, 12 migrant workers, 22 housemaids, and 18 students, now under the protection of the Indonesian embassy in Tunis. (*)
