Head of public relations of the ministry of energy and mineral resource Sutisna Pawira said here on Wednesday the government was committed to meeting the needs of fuel oils of the people.
"For that the people must support it and Pertamina (state-owned oil company) by using fuel oils wisely and normally," he said in a press statement received by ANTARA in response to panic buying in several regions in the country.
With regard to the situation he said the government had already assigned PT Pertamina to continue its supply to meet their normal needs.
To regional administrations he appealed to increase their role in supervising distribution of fuel oils so that it would meet the right target and amount.
He also asked oil and gas regulatory agency BPH Migas to conduct further regulatory measures in an effort to overcome the short-term problem.
He said the government has also asked authorities concerned to help conduct control so that the tendency of rising quota like what is happening now would not continue.(*)
