Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police discovered several savings books belonging to alleged members of the Indonesia Islamic State (NII) movement caught in Ungaran, Central Java, on Monday.

"The evidence found include nine saving books from Bank Nasional," National Police head of public information division Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar said here on Wednesday.

One of the books showed a balance of Rp350 million and investigators are now still investigating where the money came from, he said.

"We are still investigating the money kept in the savings accounts," he said.

He said police suspected the money came from NII members or community members newly declared as NII members. "So there is a kind of struggle contributions. It is still being further investigated and of course it is ongoing. What is clear is they are fighting to form a government," he said.

The NII members who were caught in Ungaran had been declared as suspects. They are TDH, the NII governor for Central Java, NB the NII head of Communication Division, SP head of Press Division, MAS, treasurer, SL head of Logistics Division and MR a Logistics Division member.

The six are facing charges of conducting a coup attempt and for the purpose they have carried out underground activities.

One of the six suspects caught in Ungaran has been wanted by the police in connection with the NII case in West Java in 2008.

The police since 2008 have handled 11 cases linked to NII movement and they have all been taken to court and handled by the West Java and National Police.(*)
