It was believed that Irzen Octa had received intimidation and tortures from debt collectors before he died.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Citibank again failed to meet the Central Jakarta District Court summons to attend a hearing on a lawsuit over the death of one of its former credit customers, Irzen Octa, secretary-general of the National Unity Party (PBB).

"The defendant was absent for the second time. The trial session is adjourned and will be resumed on June 9, 2011," presiding judge Pramoedhana Koesoemaadmadja said at the Central Jakarta Court session to hear the lawsuit on Thursday.

Irzen Octa who was secretary general of the National Unity Party (PPB) died late last of March during a visit to a Citibank branch office at the Jamsostek Tower to clarify his debt reaching Rp100 million.

Osi Renaldi (wife of Irzen Octa)`s legal counsel, Ficky Fiher, said after the court session, "We still respect the judicial process, if once again (the Citibank representative) fails to come, then the trial will proceed without the presence of the defendant," he said.

Previously the South Jakarta police had detained all suspects in the death of Citibank customer Irzen Octa.

"All legal requirements for their arrest have been met, so that they are all detained," the resort police command`s chief of intelligence, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Budi Irawan said here recently.

He said there were five suspects that had been detained rising from four with one not being detained because objective and subjective requirements for his detention were not fulfilled.

The five suspects detained were two Citibank employees known by their initials as BYT alias BI and A, and three debt collectors known as H, D and HS.

A,H, D and HS have been detained since their first interrogation while BI was detained later after strong evidence for it was found.

It was believed that Irzen Octa had received intimidation and tortures from debt collectors before he died.

Police then named five suspects in connection with the case namely HS, H, D (debt collectors) and A and BY who are Citibank employees.

They are facing years in jail if they are proven guilty of tortures and causing death. (J008)
