Bangkok (ANTARA News) - The government of Thailand has no intention of letting Nunun Nurbaiti, an Indonesian fugitive bribery suspect, hide in that country as the present prime minister is also seriously combating corruption, a Thai spokesman says.

"Whoever is named a suspect and wanted by the anti-graft body of another country, he or she should be repatriated from Thailand," said Dr Panithan Wattanayakorn, a representative of the Thai prime minister who was in the countryside to conduct an electoral campaign.

Speaking at a meeting here Friday with around 17 journalists from seven countries at the prime minister`s office, he said corruption was against the basic human rights of the people as a whole as it could paralyze the people`s life. Hence the current Thai government gave no room to those who had committed corruption.

"The Thai government seriously upholds good governance and all systems prone to corruptive practices should be changed, and therefore a change toward the good should be supported," Panithan said.

However, he did not know whether Nunun was in Thailand, as a few weeks ago she was reported to have fled to Cambodia.

In the meantime, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reported that Nunun Nurbaeti, bribery suspect involving the election of Miranda Goeltom as Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor in 2004, was no longer in Cambodia.

"After conducting investigations based on data and information from investigators and many other relevant sides, KPK concluded that Nunun Nurbaeti is no longer in Cambodia," KPK spokesman Johan Budi was quoted as saying Thursday.

According to KPK, he added, Nunun, wife of former deputy police chief Adang Daradjatun, entered Cambodia on March 23, 2011.

Johan did not say where Nunun is now, because it would disrupt efforts to return her home.

KPK has asked the Law and Human Rights Minister to revoke Nunun`s passport. KPK has also asked the police to issue a red notice to Interpol in France to conduct the search in 188 countries.
