"We are ready to host the Asian Games 2018, but we need time to make preparations for the success of the event," Noerdin said here on Wednesday.
The governor said to host the Asian Games the province would need around three years to prepare. "We need three years but Indonesian National Sports Council (KONI) chairperson Rita Soebowo said the event is still seven years away," Alex said after a thanksgiving ceremony for the success of the SEA Games in Palembang.
The governor said preparations for the Asian Games 2018 would include construction of the Musi-III and Musi-IV bridges, a South Sumatra ring road, an access road, and a toll road, around 20 sports arenas, and four- and five-star rated hotels.
He said the extension of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II airport`s runway in Palembang would also be part of the Asian Games preparations.(*)
