"I can assure you that the Aceh Party will register its candidates for the regional elections. We will make our decision and stand known at a party meeting soon," party spokesman Fachrul Razi said when asked about it here on Tuesday.
The Constitutional Court on Tuesday issued a ruling for the re-opening of registration of candidates to run for Aceh district/deputy district heads, mayors/deputy mayors and governor/deputy governor for s period of seven days.
"(The ruling is issued) to give an opportunity for new candidates who have not registered from political parties or groups of political parties and individuals as well as for verification and confirmation of new candidates for seven days as of the date of the ruling`s issuance," MK chief Mahfud MD said.
Fachrul said at the meeting to be attended by party executives, cadres and sympathizers soon, the Aceh Party would consolidate itself.
"At the meeting we will explain our stand and also discuss technicalities in the registration of candidates across districts and cities in the province," he said.
He said the Aceh Party appreciated the decision of the Constitutional Court. "The ruling is a positive thing as part of efforts to strengthen peace in Aceh," he said.
He said the ruling had also ensured the rule of law in the implementation of the regional elections.
"It will also open room for democracy and participation of all elements and parties in the community who wish to participate in the elections," he said.
Several shooting incidents have occurred recently believed to be related to the planned elections.
