Pontianak, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia National Army will set up three new posts along the border between Indonesia and Malaysia in the northern part of East Kalimantan in order to improve coordination between its personnel as well as to strengthen security in the area.

"We will strengthen the security along the borderline by establishing three new posts in Pala Pasang and Sekayam village," the Head of the Sanggau District Military Command (Kodim) 1204, Lieutenant Colonel CZI Ade Heri Kurniawan, said here on Monday.

The new post in Pala Pasang Village will be built by the Tanjung Pura Regional Military Command (Kodam) XII, while the other two will be set up in Lubuk Tengah and Bantan, Sekayam village, would by The Defence Ministry.

"However, there will be no additional army personnel stationed at the new posts. Instead, some of those who are already stationed in the other posts will fill the new posts," Ade said.

"The establishment of the new posts was necessary because the existing ones were far from each other. That would affect the coordination and security," he explained.

Ade noted that there were only seven border posts in the area, located in Tembawang, Kenaman, Gabma Entikong, Segumun, Sungai Tekam, Sungai Daun and Sungai Beruang.

"Four of those posts serve as borderline posts, while the others, in Gabma Entikong, Sungai Daun dan Kenaman, serve as command posts," he added. (*)
