To me what is important first is the presentation. We will see if it is cheap or not, efficient or not. We will study it professionally."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signaled he would give an approval to PT Adhi Karya Tbk. to develop a monorail system in the city because the funds for it would not come from the national budget.
"So the national budget funds could be used for other purposes and not only for developing an elevated rail system," he said when met at the state enterprises ministry here on Tuesday.
The project is expected to be financed by a consortium of state-owned companies.
Jokowi wished the company would invite domestic investors or other state-owned companies to cooperate to carry out the project.
"If there are any investors who will finance it let them do it. But it would be better if state-owned companies would do it so that it would be fully domestic," he said.
In view of that he said he would therefore prioritize state-owned companies in the project. He expected PT Adhi and Hutama Karya to present their project proposals.
"To me what is important first is the presentation. We will see if it is cheap or not, efficient or not. We will study it professionally," he said.
Adhi Karya president director Kiswodarmawan meanwhile said his company would build a consortium with other state-owned companies and also regional government-owned companies to carry out the project in two phases with the first one to be carried out this year and expected to finish in 2015 and the second one to be started in 2015.
"The first phase is estimated to cost Rp12 to Rp13 trillion," he said.
Hutama Karya president director Tri Widjajanto meanwhile said the company plans to build an elevated light rail transit system with funds from the national budget as it would be a public transportation facility. (SSB/YH/A014)
