Lebak, Banten (ANTARA News) - The regency of Lebak of Banten province will have a number of new cement factories to come on line in 2014, the district office of the investment board said.

The projects are planned by four local and foreign investors -- PT Gamma, PT Siam, Tri Utama and PT Pos Perdi, head of the investment board Hari Setiono said in Rangkasbetung on Friday.

PT Gamma is already in the final phase of construction for its cement factory , one of the biggest in capacity in the country.

Head of the engineering division of PT Gama Grup Handy said the factory will have a production capacity of 4 million tons of cement a year.

The three other companies PT Siam, PT Tri Utama and PT Pos Perdi are still in the process of seeking the license and land procurement.

The factories will be built in the sub-districts of Muncang, Sajira, Cibeber, Bayah and Cilograng where the raw material to produce cement including white cement is available in abundance.

The raw material deposits are enough to feed the factories for hundreds of years, Hari said.

"The cement factories would help speed up development program in the country," he said.

The district administration have continued to encourage investors to invest in the regency of Lebak to boost the district economic development and improve the welfare of the local people, he said.

The cement factories will provide many jobs, give rise to supporting industries and encourage development of other industries such as restaurants, hotels, etc.

The projects will certainly contribute to increasing the district original income, Hari said.

"The projects are estimated to cost trillions of rupiahs in total investment," he said.

The entire production is designed to meet growing domestic requirement, Hari said.
