"The transaction of the Jakarta Fair 2013 rose to Rp4.5 trillion and this year we want to increase it to Rp5 trillion," JIExpo chief commissioner Murdaya said at a press conference here on Monday.
Murdaya expressed optimism that the target will be reached because the Jakarta Fair was promoted widely to the embassies of friendly countries in Jakarta.
"The annual Jakarta Fair aims to develop the industry of MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) in Indonesia and worldwide, so we are optimistic that the transaction value of Rp5 trillion can be reached this year," he said.
Also, he added that the organizing committee hoped to see more visitors this year than that in the previous year.
"The Jakarta Fair, which will be held between June 6 and July 6, 2014, is expected to attract 4.7 million visitors, including domestic and foreign tourists," Murdaya said.
Organized by the Jakarta administration in cooperation with the PT Jakarta International Expo, the largest trade fair in Southeast Asia in 2014 will mark Jakarta citys 487th anniversary.
Murdaya expressed hope that the Jakarta Fair will continue to develop and encourage trade promotion and industrial innovation to help boost investments.
"Events like the Jakarta Fair can also absorb workers and help contribute to economic development and welfare improvement," he said, adding that the event will become the main shopping destination for visitors from Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi and other regions in the country.
On weekdays the Jakarta Fair will open at 3.30 p. m. and close at 10 p. m., and on weekends it will run from 10 a. m. to 11 p. m.
The entry ticket fares will vary from Rp20,000 on Mondays and Rp25,000 the rest of the weekdays to Rp30,000 on weekends.(*)
