Palangka Raya, C Kallimantan (ANTARA News) - Major Setiawan, a pilot of the Indonesian Air Forces CN 295 aircraft spotted three bodies of AirAsia flight QZ8501s victims, floating in Karimata Strait on Sunday.

The three bodies were seen clearly but it was not known whether they were men or women, Major Setiawan said in Iskandar Air Force Base, Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan Province, Sunday.

The three corpses would be evacuated by either USS Samspon or Japanese Ship Onami, he said.

Up to Saturday, a total of 30 bodies have been found in Java Sea which is near Karimata Strait, some 95 Nautical miles from Pangkalan Bun.

The AirAsia flight QZ8501 disappeared en route from Surabaya to Singapore, on Dec. 28, 2014, with 162 people aboard, consisting of 155 Indonesians, three South Koreans, one British, one Singaporean, a French and one Malaysian.

The ill-fated planes fuselage is still missing.

The hunt for missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 moved into a new phase on Sunday with the deployment of a pinger locator to find the black box.

Meanwhile, some 60 ships, eight planes and four helicopters were deployed on Saturday to search for debris and remains of passengers from the AirAsia flight QZ8501, according to the National Search and Rescue Board (Basarnas).

Basarnas training and operation director SB Supriyadi said at the main command post at Pangkalan Bun on Saturday that the search area has been extended from 90x150 miles to 90x210 miles.

The search is being co-ordinated by Basarnas, by involving a number of concerned Indonesian institutions such as the military, police and the transportation ministry, as well as foreign countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, the US, Japan, China, South Korea, India, and Russia.
