Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has departed for Rote Ndao, the southernmost region of Indonesia, on Monday to hand over two thousand land certificates to the local residents.

"Some activities have been outlined for Mr President in Rote Ndao, one of them being the distribution of land certificates," East Nusa Tenggara Government`s spokesperson Samuel Pakereng stated here on Monday.

President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana had departed by Indonesian Air Force`s aircraft from the El Tari Airport in Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara, at 4:25 p.m. local time and is scheduled to arrive at Rote Ndao`s DC Saudale Airport at 4:40 p.m. local time.

During the visit to Rote Ndao, President Jokowi will also hand over Indonesia Smart Cards and Indonesia Health Cards to the people on Tuesday.

A traditional ceremony will also be held to mark the president`s visit to Rote Island and is scheduled meet with 50 people representing the Rote Ndao community on Tuesday.

The president and his entourage will stay at the Nemberala Beach Hotel located on the popular beach in Rote Island.

Some VIPs joining President Jokowi to the visit to Rote Ndao are Minister of Land and Spatial Planning Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Public Works and People Housing Basoeki Hadimoeljono, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendi, East Nusa Tenggara Governor Frans Lebu Raya, and Regional Military Commander of Udayana Major General Komaruddin Simanjuntak.
