Madiun, E Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the 52-kilometer (km)-long section of the Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road (Klitik-Wilangan) that passes through the districts of Ngawi, Madiun, and Nganjuk.

"I am targeting that the toll roads from Merak to Pasuruan would be ready by the end of 2018. By the end of 2019, it will connect Merak to Banyuwangi," President Jokowi noted during the inauguration of the Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road at the Madiun Toll Gate of Madiun District, East Java, on Thursday.

The Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road, inaugurated by Jokowi, is part of the Solo-Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road constructed by PT Ngawi Kertosono Jaya (PT NKJ).

The Ngawi-Wilangan section was inaugurated before the two other sections, as the infrastructure was better prepared. Meanwhile, construction of the Solo-Ngawi toll road section by PT Solo Ngawi Jaya (SNJ) and the Wilangan-Kertosono segment by the government have yet to be completed.

The Ngawi-Kertosono toll road measures 87.5 km in length, and from this segment, PT NKJ is in charge of the construction along 52 km, with an investment value of Rp3.83 trillion for Klitik, Ngawi-Wilangan, and Nganjuk. Construction of the remaining 36 km section of the Wilangan-Kertosono toll road is being carried out by the government.

The Ngawi-Kertosono toll road has four gates: Toll Gate (GT) Ngawi operated by PT SNJ, Madiun GT in Dumpil Balerejo, Mejayan GT in Caruban, and Wilangan GT on the border of Madiun-Nganjuk District. The last three GTs are managed by PT NKJ.

After inaugurating the toll road, President Jokowi conducted an electronic transaction, or e-toll, to symbolize that the Ngawi-Kertosono toll road was already operational.
