Palangka Raya, C Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Governor of Central Kalimantan, Sugianto Sabran, has affirmed that he will never impose difficulties on investors who wish to make investments in the province.

The presence of an investor is deemed essential in boosting the advancement of development, economy, and opening job fields, he stated in Palangka Raya on Wednesday.

"However, it is important to note that incoming investments still need to meet all the requirements and must be environmentally friendly. Investments should not halt developments and impose difficulties on the people," he noted.

He further stated that until now, there are no hurdles implemented for investments that are coming in. Rather, he was merely being selective in issuing licenses, especially for ones regarding mines, plantations, and forestry.

Sabran remarked that he did not want the permits he issued to cause damages to the environment in Central Kalimantan.

He believed that environmental damage could have an impact on the possibilities of various disasters happening, which, in the end, can disrupt the progression of development and disturb the community.

"The Provincial Government gives investors the freedom to come and invest in Central Kalimantan, but all regulations must be fulfilled, starting from permits to environmental impact analysis (Amdal), and it must still be considered," he asserted.

The Central Kalimantan Governor has ordered the Environmental Office, as well as the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Office, the Plantation Office, and the Forestry Services to monitor all the companies that had already made investments in the province.

He added that the increase in supervision was an effort to minimize the occurrence of violations, including guarding against environmental damage.

"The related institutions could coordinate with the police and find out who caused environmental pollution. Should they come across a violation and know who the perpetrators are, they can immediately take action and give sanctions according to the applicable rules," Sabran explained.
