Manado, N Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The North Sulawesi provincial government has made steady efforts to develop the tourism sector viewed as having the potential to boost the region's economic growth through applying the 3A strategy of attractions, accessibility, and amenities.

"We prioritize the 3A strategy to attract more tourists to visit North Sulawesi," North Sulawesi Provincial Secretary Edwin Silangen remarked in Manado on Friday.

Silangen highlighted the importance of the three aspects for the development of tourism. The 3A strategy is one of the keys to boosting North Sulawesi's tourism sector.

He expounded that attractions covered revamping natural, artificial, and cultural attractions; while accessibility encompassed boosting air connectivity, road quality, and intermodal access to tourist destinations; and amenities included the construction of public and tourism facilities.

Silangen explained that the strategy to develop the North Sulawesi tourism industry can be applied optimally by continuing to develop traditional tourism and modern tourism business identities.

He believes that consumers should be offered an insight into the culture and best possible services to raise the competitiveness of tourism businesses.

Silangen stated that Indonesia's tourism ministry had named North Sulawesi as the Rising Star of the Indonesian tourism sector since it was able to drive the growth of its tourism performance to 600 percent in the past four years.

Silangen is optimistic that this trend would continue to be maintained this year along with several international tourism events to be held, including the Bunaken Festival, Enchantment Festival, and Tomohon International Flower Festival.
