Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia was presented with an award in the ‘Ensuring Integrated Approaches in Public Sector Institutions’ category at the United Nations Public Service Forum (UNPSF) in Baku, Azerbaijan recently. The forum awarded Indonesia for a website named PetaBencana.id managed by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), according to a statement issued by the Indonesian Embassy in Baku received by Antara here, Tuesday.

"I am proud because Indonesia is the favorite of the 2019 UNPSF. Hopefully, there will be more innovations in public services for the benefit of many people," Indonesian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Husnan Bay Fananie said.

Petabencana.id is an interactive platform that explores the capacity of the community and allows people to actively participate in making decisions when a disaster takes place.

PetaBencana.id uses the power of social media to collect, sort, and display information on floods in real-time.

The awards ceremony was attended by the Indonesian delegation consisting of Minister of Administrative Reform and Minister of Social Affairs.

Other delegation members were from the East Java Provincial Government, BNPB, Pekanbaru (Riau) Mayor, Makassar (South Sulawesi) Mayor, Head of Lumajang District (East Java), Head of North Luwu District (South Sulawesi), Vice Head of Pangkajene District (South Sulawesi), as well as administrations of Surakarta (Central Java), Pasuruan and Banyuwangi (East Java).

The ambassador hoped that Indonesia would become a model for other countries in the world in providing public services amidst geographical challenges and the dense population.

"Hopefully Indonesia could continue to make innovations," he added.

On the occasion, the Ambassador took the opportunity to promote the Indonesian Cultural Festival (ICF) and invited everyone to visit the event.

"ICF 2019 is an event to promote the Indonesian culture, cuisine and tourism, especially for people in Azerbaijan," Ambassador Husnan said.
