The victim is a recidivist, who specialized in stealing motor vehicles.Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA) - The police have named a member of the Bangkalan District Legislative Council (DPRD) in East Java as a suspect in a shooting case that led to the death of a local resident in March 2021.
The suspect, identified as H, has not been detained, as the police is still accruing evidence of his involvement in the case, Chief of the Public Relations Section at the East Java Provincial Police Senior Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko stated here on Friday.
The police had earlier named two suspects, identified by their initials as S and W, in the shooting case.
Handoko noted that H had allegedly shot the resident, identified as L.
The senior commissioner remarked that the police were still investigating whether the firearm used in the shooting case belonged to S or M.

The shooting occurred when the three suspects came to the victim's house to inquire about the lost motorcycle that he has allegedly stolen.
"The victim is a recidivist, who specialized in stealing motor vehicles," he stated.
L refused to heed to the suspects’ request to return the motorcycle belonging to one of them.
They later became embroiled in an argument that snowballed and resulted in the shooting of L.
However, Handoko believes emotional anguish as the reason behind the shooting.
"The motive is heartache," he noted. (INE)
