Our fight is not yet over, we will try our best to win the bronze medal.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's badminton men’s doubles pair -- The Daddies -- are determined to bag a bronze medal in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 after their hopes to win gold were dashed on being eliminated in the semifinal on Friday.
The Daddies -- Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan -- asserted that they will not grieve their defeat but will instead focus on the upcoming bronze medal match against Malaysia's men's doubles pair.
"Our fight is not yet over. We will try our best to win a bronze medal," Setiawan noted in a written statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Saturday.
Ahsan also called on Indonesian citizens to pray for their victory and sought their support in the match.
The bronze medal match will be held on Saturday, 5:20 p.m. (10:20 AM GMT). The Daddies will once again face Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
The pairs have earlier competed in the elimination round. During that round, The Daddies, the number-two men's doubles pair in the world, managed to win 21-16, 21-19.
Chia and Yik were eliminated in the final four after they lost to China's, Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chen, in two consecutive games, 22-24, 13-21.
Meanwhile, Setiawan and Ahsan lost to the Taiwanese pair, Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin, 11-21, 10-21.
The Daddies admitted that Yang and Chi-Lin were on the top of their game. Before defeating the Daddies, the number-three men's doubles pair in the world managed to beat the other Indonesian ace pair -- Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon -- in the elimination round.
In the quarter final round, they also managed to eliminate Japan’s Yuta Watanabe and Hiroyuki Endo.
"Going to have to admit that our opponents played really well. They were very strong, and they keep pushing us," Ahsan stated.
